47/365: “In Bloom” by Sturgil Simpson

From Sturgill Simpson’s 2016 LP, A Sailor’s Guide to Earth, this earthy cover of Nirvana’s “In Bloom” is straight country until the brass kicks in and gives new life to the grunge classic. Simpson’s soulful take on country has me rethinking my admittedly narrow-minded opinion of the genre.
