14/365: “Big Beast” by Killer Mike featuring Bun B, T.I., and Trouble
Before there was Run the Jewels there was Killer Mike’s 2012 solo album R.A.P. Music. Produced entirely by El-P, this was the first time the two artists worked together on a project and from the album a bountiful collaborative partnership and friendship was born. El-P’s production always sounds aggressively ahead of its time and despite being five years old, “Big Beast”, or just about any song on R.A.P. Music could, easily fit on the recently released RTJ3. If you’re a fan of Run the Jewels and haven’t heard this album – stop what you’re doing and listen to it now.
