10/365: “Crisis” by ANOHNI
Co-produced with Hudson Mohawke and Oneohtrix Point Never, “Crisis” is a standout track from ANOHNI’s gorgeous albeit uneven 2016 album HOPELESSNESS. It’s a protest album haunted by drone warfare and surveillance and the tension between the shimmering electric production and ANOHNI’s stunning vocal performance is profoundly compelling. There are some definite misfires on HOPELESSNESS but tracks like “Drone Bomb Me”, “4 Degrees” and “Why Did You Separate Me From The Earth” are astounding performances from a singular artist.
