3/365: “Poplar St.” by Glass Animals
Happy Coachella Lineup Day!!!
After months of baseless speculation, we finally have something tangible to drool over. This April, I will be making my annual pilgrimage to Indio, California and I couldn’t be more pleased with the lineup. Golden Voice has scaled back on their EDM offerings and, for the first time in a while, slated three headliners I’m actually excited to see. The undercard is as strong as ever and it looks like I’ll get the opportunity to see a handful of artists for the first time (provided we get a merciful schedule). Sure, there are some indie heavyweights that are on my must-see list like Bon Iver and the xx, but it’s the bands I haven’t seen perform live that really get me fired up about attending the festival this year. Here are the acts (pre-deep diving research) that I hope to see live for the first time: Mac DeMarco, Big Gigantic, Local Natives, Röyksopp, Mura Masa, Breakbot, Car Seat Headrest, SURVIVE, Mitski, Jack Garrett and creators of today’s Song of the Day – Glass Animals. Maybe it’s my imagination but Glass Animals still seem underrated after two pretty stellar albums. Their sophomore 2016 release How To Be A Human Being is one of the best albums of the year that didn’t find it’s way on to many year end lists and “Poplar St.” showcases the groups unique and truly compelling sound. Time to start counting down the days…
WEEKEND TWO FOR LIFE!!!
PS HANS ZIMMER??? I’m confused but excited but confused but mostly excited. Maybe GV is testing the waters for a John Williams headlining set next year?
